Bryce Alakai Just Won Love Island USA Season 8 — Here’s What We Know About His Net Worth

Prior to June 2026, Bryce Alakai Dettloff was precisely the type of person who thrives on the periphery of the Los Angeles entertainment scene without quite making it to the center. He was a model for Calvin Klein and GUESS. He was a DJ at Mesa’s Insomniac. He worked as a handyman, served tables, and performed electrical work. His singles, “Lose My Mind,” “This Time,” and “Change Me,” garnered modest audiences but failed to establish him as a household name. He has minor parts in a 2022 movie and a few TV series. He was constructing something. What it was, however, was still unclear.

Then, on the first day of the Love Island USA Season 8 villa in Fiji, he entered with Trinity Tatum. Thirty-two days later, host Ariana Madix declared them the winners, and they shared a $100,000 prize. Bryce remarked, “I feel like I’m in a dream right now,” following his coronation. “I’m making my way up here. “Is this f—— real?” I ask myself. It was genuine. Additionally, the months that follow for a Love Island victor with a track record in modeling and music are typically much different from those who preceded them.

By most realistic estimates, his net worth prior to the show was between $100,000 and $500,000. This range reflects the inherent difficulties in evaluating a career developed across numerous revenue streams, none of which are particularly lucrative on their own. Commercial modeling at that level doesn’t yield the kind of long-term wealth that a full-time leading contract would, but modeling campaigns for well-known brands generate significant fees. Revenue is occasionally added through DJing and music production. Gaps were filled by the waiter and handyman jobs. The acting credits were insufficient to make a big difference in terms of money. When taken as a whole, it amounts to a life based on a variety of hustles rather than a single stable source of income; this pattern is more prevalent among LA creative people than the final product version of their employment typically suggests.

For someone like Bryce, the main thing that changes following a Love Island victory is visibility. Celebrity connections quickly emerged, from Chase Hudson of Hype House publicly endorsing him throughout the season to appearances in a limo with Darren Criss and JC Chasez of NSYNC, via his agent Eric Podwall, on their way to a private Elton John benefit concert. Although those relationships existed prior to the show, they weren’t publicly associated with him in a way that would have generated business opportunities. They are now. The same network that helps you gain access to an Elton John benefit as a relative unknown can also steer a modeling career toward more lucrative campaigns, negotiate brand partnerships on social media, or open doors in music that were previously more difficult to pursue.

Throughout the season, he will have amassed a sizable Instagram following, which is an instant commercial asset for any reality TV winner with a creative career. Love Island viewers are specifically engaged in a way that helps a lifestyle-focused influencer, and sponsored posts and brand partnerships are priced based on audience size and engagement. A model whose name appears briefly everywhere, an actor whose reel recently received a big new addition, a DJ who can now command real attention for his music releases—these are the elements of a post-reality-TV career that might compound if he harnesses the momentum appropriately.

The couple openly discussed their age difference in their first post-show interview, with Bryce stating that it “completely disappeared” in his mind once he saw who Trinity was. Bryce turned 30 during filming Season 8, while Trinity is 22. Every Love Island couple has to deal with the question of whether their relationship will last outside of the villa, and it’s really hard to say in the near future. In twelve months, Bryce Alakai—the man who worked as an electrical contractor on garbage trucks before going on television—will be much more financially secure than he was a year ago, which is more predictable. That’s a real victory, but it’s a different type.
