David Armstrong-Jones at Wimbledon 2026 , Princess Margaret’s Son Watched Sinner vs Djokovic From the Front Row

David Armstrong-Jones, the late Princess Margaret’s son and 2nd Earl of Snowdon, was seen watching the men’s semifinals at Wimbledon on July 10, 2026, in the front row of the Royal Box. Day 12 of the Championships was one of those afternoons at the All England Club when the crowd in Centre Court has a distinct vibe—it’s quieter, more focused, and everyone is aware that what they’re watching is important. Two semifinals, two real contenders for the championship. The typical mix of celebrities, nobility, and people who can easily navigate both worlds was present in the Royal Box, which had a formal dress requirement and limited access.

Richard Caring, a British businessman, sat with Armstrong-Jones. By the standards of royal family Wimbledon appearances, his presence on Friday was rather low-key; he doesn’t have the kind of public profile that attracts the same amount of media attention as the family’s more close-knit working members, but his attendance at such events is noticeable. Only a few days had passed since his sister, Lady Sarah Chatto, and her husband, Daniel Chatto, attended the quarterfinals on Tuesday. It is fairly typical for Princess Margaret’s two siblings to make separate appearances during the same tournament fortnight; both are frequent attendees at significant British sporting and cultural events, neither has working royal status, and both appear to handle that particular position with some ease.

Prince Michael of Kent and the Duchess of Gloucester, Birgitte, who has frequently been spotted in the stands at this year’s Wimbledon, were also in the Royal Box on Friday. Zverev’s matchup with the youthful Arthur Fery in the semifinals, followed by Sinner’s matchup with Djokovic, was the kind of schedule that warranted a seat in the building. Sinner vs. Djokovic held the weight of a rivalry that has been growing over the past few years, but it was still a little shocking to see Fery in a Grand Slam semifinal.

David Armstrong-Jones, the son of Princess Margaret and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, was born at Clarence House on November 3, 1961. From birth, he was known by the title Viscount Linley, which he used for the most of his adult life and professional career. In January 2017, he succeeded his father as the 2nd Earl of Snowdon. A first cousin of King Charles III, he works as a furniture craftsman and is the honorary chairman of Christie’s.

In British public life, the Armstrong-Jones siblings hold a unique and somewhat peculiar position. Because Princess Margaret was the sole sibling of the Queen, they have a direct pedigree and a legitimate tie to the institution, making them truly royal. However, they have developed their own professional identities in accordance with the fact that they are not working royals and do not do official engagements on behalf of the Crown. Sarah through painting and a more sedate private life, David through furniture design and the art world. At events like Wimbledon, Royal Ascot, and the Chelsea Flower Show, the extended family shows up together in a casual rather than formal manner.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter, Damian Lewis, Virgil van Dijk, and Richard E. Grant were also present at the Day 12 semifinals. This kind of guest list highlights Wimbledon’s unique capacity to occupy the nexus of sport, celebrity, and institution all at once. David Armstrong-Jones, who is watching Sinner play Djokovic from the front row of the Royal Box, fits right in. A member of the extended royal family attending one of the most recognizable annual events in Britain and witnessing the sport perform as it should during the second week of July has a subtle consistency to it.
